דף הבית » Shabbat Hatan in Jerusalem
The Western Wall is one of the four retaining walls surrounding the Temple Mount for about two thousand years, from the end of the Second Temple to the present day. In Jewish tradition, the Western Wall is highly sacred, and Jews have been praying there for more than 1,100 years.
The Western Wall has religious importance due to its location of the Holy of Holies, along with national and historical importance. As a result, millions of visitors come every year, Jews and non-Jews. Mitzvahs come to the Torah there on Mondays and Thursdays, IDF soldiers take the oath of allegiance there on its upper plaza, and people from all over the world visit it.
